Have you ever come across an elderly person that had no clue what they were doing? The elderly have been known for thinking they rule the road, driving to slow and not being able to see other objects on the road. So I believe the elderly that are over the age of 65 should have to take another driving test.
The first reason for the elderly going through another road test is that they drive to slow. This is defiantly a hazard because it holds up traffic what will cause accidents; also it creates major traffic jams making people mad because they are under the speed limit for no reason. I think the elderly drive slowly because they are not confidant about there driving and if they would pass the test it would just reinsure there driving ability.
Also they think they rule the road. This is scary if you have ever came across anything like it, they are just driving care free not paying attention to any thing , then they get into an accident and they don’t believe its there fault. They drive right on the middle line, not using any signals and tail getting. They also have road rage thinking the world owes them a favor. These all cause horrible accidents putting life’s in danger.
Many of the elderly have terrible eye sight. They are not even able to read a book how do aspect them to read a road sign with speed on it. When they go in for the road test they should get there eye sight checked so they pass with the same marks as a new driver. This will also help protect our roads.
I know the young drivers also cause accidents to, but now one ever focus on the elderly that cause just as many accidents or more. People just always here about the young people on the news , but the news only puts the young driver accidents on the news not the elderly accidents because the news only makes money on people that watch and the people that are watching are the elderly. So these are the reason why I believe they should go for another driver test.
